Part of the Dark Pond Series at Paper Cucos, The Secret Between Us is a 20 x 16 acrylic, wax, gold leaf and pastel painting inspired by the quiet beauty found beneath the surface.
 
Dark water has a way of keeping secrets. It reflects what we allow it to reveal while holding an entire world just beneath the surface—hidden, intimate, and known only to those willing to look closely.
 
This piece explores the beauty of discovering a place, a feeling, or a connection that feels like it belongs only to two people. The water lilies emerge from the darkness like small revelations—fleeting moments of color and light surrounded by mystery.
 
Created as a smaller companion to the original large-scale pondscape, this artwork carries the same emotional landscape in a more intimate form. It is a painting about shared places, unspoken understanding, and the quiet magic of having something beautiful that feels like ours alone.
